ABOUT NICK VASS BLOODSTOCK

Nick Vass Bloodstock is a boutique breeding operation with quality broodmares residing in Scone, NSW. Our high-class yearlings are offered throughout the year via Australia’s leading auction houses.

Nick Vass has been a racing enthusiast since 1975, and bought his first racehorse in 1981.

His first win was at Royal Randwick with a horse called Brazen Spirit, trained by the late Mal Barnes and ridden by Ron Dufficy (now a commentator for Sky Racing and a leading form expert). From that win he was hooked on the sport of kings.

Over the years Nick has raced many horses with great success, including stakes winners Electrique, Electronic (1996 Australian Champion Mare), Mr Celebrity, Cheeky Choice, Go Bint, Spurred On, Grand City, Shy Hero, Space Age, Sweet Idea and No Looking Back.

Nick has also been fortunate enough to have starters in the Melbourne Cup, Golden Slipper and the Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Nick has studied pedigree and conformation intensively. With over 30 years of racing knowledge behind him, he knows what makes a good broodmare. Over time, Nick has put together a high-class band of broodmares that he takes great care to select suitable stallions for each year.

The stallions used recently include: Fastnet Rock, Commands, Lohnro, Snitzel, Street Cry, Foxwedge, Sepoy, Wanted, Sebring, Pierro, All Too Hard, I Am Invincible and Exceed & Excel.

Nick continually aims to breed racehorses with strong pedigrees and good conformation that will excel on the racecourse. All yearlings are sold through Australia’s leading auction houses.

Nick also still enjoys racing horses and owns several that are in training with leading Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse.
